Take a leap of faith into the new year with a couple newbies from my ever growing digital catalogue. I’m sure at least one of these is perfect for your playlist! 🙂
Here are 14 of your favorite covers we recorded live in Carolina Beach, North Carolina earlier this summer. These are from the same live sessions of original music I released on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Rdio, Deezer and Beats, called KAMARY PHILLIPS, CAROLINA BEACH BUM.
I’ve posted this track because I’m quite sure Lauryn Hill wants everyone to hear it and because it’s inspired me to write something on this topic as well. We’ll see how long it takes me to put something of mine out there.
It’s nice to see my music being sold online LEGALLY for once! So of course I’m going to help promote the sh*t out of it. I hope you stop by the world’s largest online retailer and pick up a song or three for your hungry iPod or other MP3 player.
Besides my own little online Disto-shop, iTunes, Amazon and Google-Play are the only places (right now) I’ve given consent to sell my shite. Anywhere else is pirating. Not that you care, eh? 🙂 At any rate, thanks to all my freaky online comrades for spreading the word to more than 150 countries where Kamary Phillips Music is available.
Has it really been almost 43 years since the death of one of my most influential archetypes. Strange to consider that his death marked the era of my birth. I would have enjoyed meeting him that’s for sure. More ironically, growing up I remember not being willing to perform his tunes in public. At the time I was always trying to establish my own way. My sound. Little did I know he’d already done that for me. Young and dumb…young and dumb.
Now that I’ve outlived the master, I can only dream of what life would have been had I only embraced the sonic spirit thats been at my side the last 25 years. Old and wise…old and wise.
I’m guessing these recordings are from 1994 or thereabouts. I was developing an act called JAK LO-FI with my best friends at the time, Jeff (Drums) and Anthony (Bass). I was a single Dad back then for a couple of years before the psycho X literally stole the kid one afternoon, never to be seen by me again to this day. Xela, the kid, loved the guys and music at home was a fairly daily occurrence. She loved it and would try to sing every chance she got. She was also good at sleeping through any jam she saw fit to LOL!
Jeff and I still get along famously. In fact, he was Best Dude at my hitching. As for Antman, never hear from him sad to say. Hope he’s well and still rockin!
I figured it’s about time I posted something new, something positive. I’ve cooped myself up in my little studio world to work on a lot of new tracks for my band lately. In between I got caught up with producing a song for a new film, through one of my Los Angeles connections.
Now after listening to it several times I must say I am very, very pleased with the results. The song is called LOST AT SEA and it’s meant to portray that romantic, seafaring vibe that so many people have in their mind when they think about working on a ship or being out on the ocean.
If you take a look at the lyrics below, you can see the story of a man who is missing a woman. Yeah, I know, nothing new and that’s just the reason why this song works, ha! Anyway, give it a read and after that have a listen. Feel free to comment below.
Lost At Sea – written by PMG Music
It’s been three years and a day or so since I last saw you
For all I know you think I’m dead
On the eve after we made sweet love for the first time
A drunken fool got hit on the head
And woke up at sea with the world behind me
Many days and many nights sailing under the same sky
that you look up to with a tears in your eyes
Wondering just where I’ve gone because now it’s far too long
And it’s coming to the time where you move on
I’m lost at sea with the world behind me
Drop a tear in the ocean when you think of me
Your love and devotion will always haunt me
This sea of love in motion is floating me high above the ocean
I can see a child who’s loved and wholesome, your family
Can’t get beyond the notion it looks like me
Drop a tear in the ocean when you think of me
Your love and devotion is still haunting me
From ocean to ocean and sea to sea
Your love and devotion will always be
Like a tear in the ocean it’s so hard to see
Perpetual motion I’m lost at sea
“LOST AT SEA” written, performed, produced by Kamary Phillips

I meant to post this song a few weeks ago and somehow never got around to it. This is the 1st song I wrote in 2012 titled, appropriately enough, “happy new year”. Well, better late than never!
The 1st file is an MP3 and 2nd file is a quick video I made using the actual fireworks that I experienced celebrating 2012 New Year’s. The cool thing about those fireworks is that it’s the 1st time I’ve ever been above the fireworks looking down and on occasion many of the blasts exploded on the same floor as our hotel suite, overlooking downtown Hamburg.
Anyway, I hope you like this song. Admittedly I was a little insecure about it but I tested it with a few friends and everybody said it was cool. So, there you have it. Happy new year!
I’ve wanted to post this for sometime now but couldn’t find the dang MP3’s to put here. Now that I’ve landed back in Europe for a time, I’ve been able to hook up some old hard drives and to my happy surprise, I’ve found my version of “HURT” as well as Trent Reznors and Johnny Cash’s.
Here they are for your enjoyment. As you’ll hear, I managed to combine the two, to some unique extent. I love ’em all! Let me know your thoughts in a comment.
