Lauryn Hill’s Black Rage Song
Ant, Jeff, Kam And Xela
I’m guessing these recordings are from 1994 or thereabouts. I was developing an act called JAK LO-FI with my best friends at the time, Jeff (Drums) and Anthony (Bass). I was a single Dad back then for a couple of years before the psycho X literally stole the kid one afternoon, never to be seen by me again to this day. Xela, the kid, loved the guys and music at home was a fairly daily occurrence. She loved it and would try to sing every chance she got. She was also good at sleeping through any jam she saw fit to LOL!
Jeff and I still get along famously. In fact, he was Best Dude at my hitching. As for Antman, never hear from him sad to say. Hope he’s well and still rockin!

Lost At Sea
Yo Peeps!
I figured it’s about time I posted something new, something positive. I’ve cooped myself up in my little studio world to work on a lot of new tracks for my band lately. In between I got caught up with producing a song for a new film, through one of my Los Angeles connections.
Now after listening to it several times I must say I am very, very pleased with the results. The song is called LOST AT SEA and it’s meant to portray that romantic, seafaring vibe that so many people have in their mind when they think about working on a ship or being out on the ocean.
If you take a look at the lyrics below, you can see the story of a man who is missing a woman. Yeah, I know, nothing new and that’s just the reason why this song works, ha! Anyway, give it a read and after that have a listen. Feel free to comment below.
Lost At Sea – written by PMG Music
It’s been three years and a day or so since I last saw you
For all I know you think I’m dead
On the eve after we made sweet love for the first time
A drunken fool got hit on the head
And woke up at sea with the world behind me
Many days and many nights sailing under the same sky
that you look up to with a tears in your eyes
Wondering just where I’ve gone because now it’s far too long
And it’s coming to the time where you move on
I’m lost at sea with the world behind me
Drop a tear in the ocean when you think of me
Your love and devotion will always haunt me
This sea of love in motion is floating me high above the ocean
I can see a child who’s loved and wholesome, your family
Can’t get beyond the notion it looks like me
Drop a tear in the ocean when you think of me
Your love and devotion is still haunting me
From ocean to ocean and sea to sea
Your love and devotion will always be
Like a tear in the ocean it’s so hard to see
Perpetual motion I’m lost at sea

Ring Of Fire Produced On iPhone 3GS
Being the ‘hand-me-down’ lover that I am, I ended up with my pal Leslie’s iphone, when she bumped up to a 4. It’s proven to be a great device for me and I’ve created an abundance of art with the thing; pics, vids and now, music.
Sure, I’ve used the microphone to record song ideas, thoughts, sex sounds and the like but now that Apple has released GARAGEBAND for the iOS devices, it’s literally a fukn studio in your damn poket.
On this recording RING OF FIRE, there are 6 analog audio tracks (2 guitars, 4 vocals) recorded via the iphone’s own mic and there are 2 digital tracks (bass, drums) played within the program. Here’s my take on recording with GARAGEBAND with an iphone. This song definitely deserves a video!

Kamary Phillips Returns To Solo
It's been a few years folks and a few crappy record deals since I last called myself KAMARY PHILLIPS in front of an audience. Well, the deals are far behind me although some of the tragedy lingers on.
Recently, I met a fine, young gent by the name of Will Lovell and after he explained to me that he plays my beloved Contra-Bass (the giant bass Jazzers bang on) I was inspired to ask him for a little jam session. About 20 minutes later, literally, we were playing music together.
A week or so later, I figured it was time for our first public outing. You know, to test the waters. Here for your listening pleasure is that wonderful sonic experience, less one song (I forgot to press record) and rest assured, there will be more to come. I dare say, I'm returning to professional music and with a vengeance. My goal, to win a Grammy. Go on, laugh it up. I'm giving myself 3 years from today. Mark it on your calendars.

NOHO New Years
We had a great, intimate New Years hang at the studio of the great Randy Emata. Since Randy moved into our neck of the woods, we've had a new and important center to our little community of "analog friends". I'm personally thankful for Randy's friendship and continuous generosity!
Here's a bit of jamming, which we actually don't do enough of when hanging at the studio. I had the honor of joining these A CLASS musicians while playing bass and singing on this "USE ME" interpretation.
“USE ME”
Here's a right cool jam. I really like the drummer on this one. I don't know his name however. Since I don't own drums nor have a place to play any, its the instrument I have the least practice on and which I enjoy playing the most. I try and play every chance I get at jams. This night, there were no bass players, so I got pulled into that corner almost all night. On this track, I show up around 5 minutes in, start playing bass around 7 minutes or so with Randy yelling chords at me. Rock and roll..."
This is a strange transition. I'm calling it FUNKY WHITE XMAS. First, I'm playing a funky-ass bass line (I still find cool as shit) that just doesn't catch on. It's like, no body's feeling it but me, no body really jumps on the jam. Then, Randy goes off on "Merry Christmas" or some shite, so I join him. I'm going back to that jam sometime.
PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC is the perfect name for this track. Sick drumming skills going on. It's an island-y thing I'm doing on bass until Randy comes in slingin' his Steinway muscle around, LOL! It comically peters-out in the end with some 'famous last words'.
Yeah, this kid can play...and he shall remain nameless.
Kamary Takes It WAY Back To 1922
Well, I couldn't resist grabbing this 1922 classic and making it my own. Public domain baby! A cell phone company was looking for some music and they wanted old school. I do mean old... They also wanted by 3pm and I got on it around noon. I budgeted about 30 minutes at the end for guitar parts. They were ringing in my ears so I already knew what I was going for.
When I plugged the cable in to play, I discovered it was a badly shorted cable and made nothing but noise. I repeatedly fiddled with it to no avail. All the other cables, were in my room mates car since our last gig the other night. No guitars kiddies. Maybe I'll be inspired by cellphones and finish this diddy up one day. Maybe not.
Some major artist will likely take it and make it happen big anyway, so just remember where you heard it first. :)
